Based on our experience with our SportsPlus customers, we have composed the most common mistakes committed by the sports organizers with creating and maintaining the league schedules:

  • Creating two or more schedules for one team on the same date and time.
  • Not providing all required location details, including address, driving directions, parking details, public transportation options, landmarks, etc…
  • When there are a large number of fields/courts in one place, not providing clear directions to the field numbers.
  • Not linking the location address with a map URL, either Google or Bing or Apple maps.
  • Forgetting to mention or indicating teams that fall under the home, away, or neutral.
  • Not mentioning how many minutes or hours, the team members should arrive before the actual game time.
  • Not including details like what uniform to wear, what additional tools or equipment to bring, etc.
  • If there is an after-game event, not mentioning it clearly.
  • Generating unequal match occurrences among all the teams. It means one team will play more matches compared to the rest.
  • Scheduling matches between two teams having unequal competence, i.e. team from lower division or age group taking on the team from higher division or age group.
  • Not giving enough time between the games, especially if the games are at different locations, and it takes time to travel from one place to the other.
  • Creating multiple games on one field at the same time.
  • Scheduling the games too late into the night or too early in the morning.
  • Scheduling too many games for one team in one day or on the weekend.
  • Scheduling games during the public holidays or the long weekend.
  • Not color-coding the divisions or locations or teams, as applicable to make it easy to understand the schedules.
  • Not sending a proper schedule reminder to all the team members on adding a new schedule or on making a change to an existing schedule.
  • Not sending a proper schedule reminder to all the team members on adding a new schedule or on making a change to an existing schedule.
  • Not allowing the team members to mark their availability for a game.
  • Not using the right tool to auto-generate the schedules.
  • Not distributing the schedules through all possible channels, including the mobile app, website, emails, SMS, calendar sync.
